Nearly the entire Division 1 field has stood on the top step of the podium in the British Truck Racing Championship this season, with Michael Oliver and Simon Reid becoming the latest new winners at Snetterton.
Continuing what is arguably one of the most competitive campaigns in recent memory, the UK’s biggest and best motorsport spectacle made its annual pilgrimage to Norfolk this past weekend (July 11-12) for a scorching quintet of races.
Prior to the event – which officially marked the halfway point in the season – a total of ten drivers had triumphed and it was one of those that reigned supreme on Saturday, ten-time champion Stuart Oliver.
At the wheel of his Volvo VNL, the Team Oliver Racing driver was flawless as he fended off championship rival David Jenkins in a thrilling opening contest, before then doubling up later that afternoon in race two.
Jenkins would be a constant presence towards the front of the field on the opening day. After pushing Oliver all the way in race one, he then took on Stuart’s son Michael in a captivating race two battle that pleased the bumper trackside crowd.
The two picked up where they left off on Sunday morning, this time battling for what would be the eventual race lead in race three.
Steven Powell had proved to be the cream of the crop as he led from lights-to-flag, however, the 333 Motorsport found himself on the receiving end of a disqualification for breaching over speed regulations.
That, along with time penalties for a number of other drivers, promoted Oliver and Jenkins up the order, with second-generation driver Oliver becoming the 11th different winner of a remarkable 2026 season.
Following the disappointment of losing a win, Kent racer Powell bounced back in sublime style just a few hours later as he swept aside the opposition to triumph ahead of the Reid Trucksport brothers, Simon and Craig.
Simon – who had been forced to miss the past two events due to work commitments – then became the 12th victor as he provided a defensive masterclass to hold off a train of trucks that included the Oliver team-mates, Nathan Smith and former champion Jenkins in a thrilling finale.
The British Truck Racing Championship continues in less than a months’ time at Donington Park on August 8-9.
