It’s been a blockbuster start to the 2026 British Truck Racing Championship season and the full-throttle action is only set to intensify this weekend as the stars of Division 1 prepare to take centre stage at Pembrey.
With events at Brands Hatch and Thruxton firmly in the rear view mirror, all eyes are now focused on South Wales as one of the country’s biggest and best motorsport spectacles prepares to write the latest chapter of what has been a captivating campaign so far.
Division 1 – the series’ premier class – has so far seen six different drivers stand on the top step of podium and it currently has a trio of champions occupying the top three spots in the standings – all of which are covered by just seven points.
David Jenkins is the driver everyone is trying to catch, with the MAN having enjoyed a sublime outing at Thruxton which resulted in him tallying two race wins in what were challenging weather conditions.
Looking to clinch his first championship since 2011, Jenkins is arguably driving better than ever and that’s probably a good thing because sitting behind him in second and third respectively are two ten-time champions, Stuart Oliver and Ryan Smith.
Volvo VNL driver Oliver was twice a winner at Brands Hatch before he then added another victory to his name at Thruxton, so expect him to be on the hunt for even more silverware over the course of the weekend.
Smith however will be an absentee from the weekend’s action having had his race license suspended for accruing the maximum amount of penalty points within a 12-month period.
Elsewhere, Michael Oliver is yet to win but his pace and potential so far this season means that it is only going to be a matter of time before he triumphs. Steven Powell meanwhile was a winner at Thruxton and the 333 Motorsport driver has a spring in his step heading into this weekend.
After charging to victory in the opening race of the season, Craig Reid will be hoping to recapture his front-running form after a tricky Thruxton, while Neil Yates will be looking to snare his first piece of silverware in 2026.
Other drivers that will be worth looking out for include Nathan Smith, John Bowler, Tom O’Rourke, Simon Reid and the returning Terry Gibbon, who is replacing Richard Collett as the latter recovers from major surgery.
Five action-packed races await the British Truck Racing Championship this weekend and each and every one of them promise to be packed with thrills and spills from start-to-finish.
