The British Truck Racing Championship has this year kicked its drive for sustainability into a higher gear courtesy of official fuel partners, Silvey Fleet and MB Energy.
With the understanding that motorsport as a whole has a part to play in encouraging the use of sustainable energies, Truck Sport UK has been proactively working to implement environmentally friendly power sources.
Courtesy of its association with Silvey Fleet and MB Energy – which started back in 2024 – all competitors now run on Renewable Diesel (HVO), which significantly reduces CO2 emissions.
Made from 100% renewable and sustainable feedstocks, it can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%. It is also a safe and easy alternative that can be used in place of conventional diesel without having to make any engine modifications.
Furthermore, the championship hasn’t just been doing its part on-track during 2026 as Renewable Diesel is being used in a number of vehicles across the paddock too.
This year, a majority of road-going team transporter vehicles – which are used to ferry the thoroughbred racing machines to across the length and breadth of the country and Europe – have also switched to HVO fuel.
“We’re extremely proud of our relationship with Silvey Fleet and MB Energy,” said Andrew Fulcher, BTRC Championship Coordinator. “Their knowledge and expertise is unmatched, and it has been a real education of sorts for us all in playing our part in being more sustainable.
“With their fantastic support, not only have we been able to ensure that all trucks race on HVO, but also without any performance limitations. That alone is brilliant, but when you add in that a majority of vehicles that attend our events are more sustainable is an incredible feat.
“As a Championship we recognise that this is the latest step in our sustainability journey and we’re working hard behind the scenes to make more changes. Doing so with our Silvey Fleet and MB Energy association is something we’re excited about.”
