Stuart Oliver has shared his excitement ahead of a 2023 season which will see Truck Sport UK play their part in both the British Truck Racing Championship and International Truck Prix taking centre stage.
Hot on the heels of narrowly missing out on capturing the 2022 crown, the ten-time champion and series promoter is relishing the prospect of what could be one of the most captivating campaigns in recent memory for Truck Sport UK.
“The championship has really been going from strength-to-strength in recent years and long may that continue,” said Oliver. “I think the 2022 season really outperformed even our own expectations which was fantastic.
“There is no doubt that times have been hard for everyone and the haulage business is no exception to that. It is predominantly where the roots of the truck racing come from and everyone is connected with it. It’s been great to see the camaraderie, dedication and commitment to make the sport what it has grown into.”
With a near-capacity grid already confirmed for the forthcoming campaign and the introduction of the ‘International Truck Prix’ at Convoy in the Park in August, the former multiple title winner has explained there is lots to look forward to.
Looking ahead, Oliver said: “There is a lot to be excited about this year! We’ve got a fantastic grid in Division 1 and Division 2 and I’m sure that will once again provide close, competitive racing.
“The introduction of the International Truck Prix is also something we at Truck Sport UK are proud to be launching this year. Donington Park is seen as the home of truck racing around the world and back in the 1980s I remember it being gridlocked with fans on the bankings.
“To have built things up with the British Truck Racing Championship we feel the tie is right to build things back up again with an international event. We’ve had lots of interest from drivers in France, the Netherlands and those that compete in Europe; it’s shaping up to be quite the spectacle.”
