Neil Yates to make BTRC bow in Division 2 at Thruxton

The British Truck Racing Championship will welcome a new face to the grid at Thruxton this weekend (July 8/9) as Neil Yates gets set to make his debut at Convoy on the Plain.

Joining the Division 2 ranks behind the wheel of a DAF CF that was previously driven by multiple champion Steven Powell, Yates’ first-ever racing action will see him compete around what is the fastest circuit in the UK.

Set to be a fixture on the grid for the remainder of the 2023 season, the rookie racer is keeping his expectations within check as the heavyweight series speeds towards Hampshire.

“I’m hugely excited to be making my debut this weekend,” said Yates. “We were originally planning to debut at Donington Park next month but plans have accelerated and now we’re all set to get going at Thruxton.

“I’m under no illusions that it is going to be a challenge but I’m very much ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’ so we will see how we get on. Gaining as much experience as possible is the aim this weekend and then we can go from there.”
