Just in case five British Truck Racing Championship contests isn’t enough , four more heavyweight contests have been confirmed for this weekend as the International Truck Prix makes a welcome return to the schedule.
Debuting at Donington Park last year, the event saw the some of the biggest names that compete in Europe go wheel-to-wheel across four blockbuster races. Proving to be such a smash-hit, we’re set for round two….
Jamie Anderson was one of the stars of the show during the 2023 edition of the International Truck Prix and he’s back to see if he can add to the three race wins he tallied last year.
He will of course face stiff opposition for the top step of the podium with former British Division 2 champion John Newell – who has been plying his trade successfully in the European series – look to clinch what would be his first win in the category.
Another familiar name to look out for is Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness MBE. Getting the bug for truck racing this time last year, the 52-year-old is once again swapping out his leathers and bike for something a bit more super-sized, a Scania.
McGuiness enjoyed a number of memorable drives last time out but he’ll be looking to improve on his results. With experienced team-mate Martin Gibson joining him out on-track, expect plenty of strides to be made by the pair.
Other drivers keep a watchful eye on will be very familiar to fans of the BTRC, with many of them having competed in the series as recently as last year.
Brothers Craig Reid and Simon Reid will bring their striking red Ivecos back to British shores while fan favourite Richard Collett will no doubt be eager to make his mark.
Rounding out the entry list for the second-running of the International Truck Prix is Simon Faulkner, who has been touring UK circuits this clocking up valuable test mileage.
