Top quality line-up confirmed for 2025 BTRC season

The British Truck Racing Championship is poised for one of its biggest and best seasons this year following official confirmation of the 2025 entry list – which is made up of experienced champions, returning race winners and a wave of exciting new drivers.

Unveiling a capacity line-up for the forthcoming campaign, the UK’s premier super-sized series is set to once again dazzle tens of thousands of fans this year as it embarks on a seven-round, 34-race season.

Eight former title winners and four rookie racers are just some of the headline names that are set to take part in one of the most competitive championships in the country, guaranteeing an unmissable race for both the Division 1 and Division 2 crowns.

The BTRC season officially gets underway at Brands Hatch on April 19-20 before setting off on its annual nationwide tour. Along the way it will also make a second successive visit to mainland Europe to race at the iconic Le Mans Bugatti circuit in France.

Division 1: Race is on for coveted prize

All eyes will be on the battle for the coveted Division 1 title this year and the big question will be whether anybody can stop reigning nine-time champion Ryan Smith from triumphing for a tenth consecutive season.

Smith’s all-conquering campaign in 2024 means that he is now one title away from the all-time record of ten and with the number one set to adorn his Worldwide Truck Racing machine once again, he’ll undoubtedly be the driver to beat.

Stuart Oliver holds the record for the most titles as it stands and his pursuit of an 11th crown will see him spearhead an expanded Team Oliver Racing line-up that includes his race-winning son Michael Oliver and the returning Martin Gibson, who last competed in the championship in 2021.

Another former champion that will be worth keeping an eye on is last year’s runner-up David Jenkins. The MAN driver was a regular visitor to the podium in 2024 and with improvements being made to his machine over the winter, he’ll be hoping to be in the mix once again.

Over at 333 Motorsport, Steven Powell and Neil Yates will join forces once again while Scotsman Tom O’Rourke will be eager to build on what was an encouraging maiden season in his bonneted International Navistar machine.

Other returning names to the series’ premier class include John Bowler, David Smith and the popular Richard Collett – who is back competing on British shores after a year away in the Dutch Truck Racing Championship.

Division 1 will also see a number of leading lights from Division 2 make their long-awaited graduation too. Last year’s deserving champion John Powell and former title winner Adam Bint will both embark on new pastures in new machinery.

WDE Motorsport – who helped guide Paul Rivett to the title in 2023 – have also announced their intentions to make the step up to Division 1 however they are yet to confirm who will be driving for them.

Division 2: New and familiar faces ready for battle

In Division 2, the departure of last year’s title winner has meant that a new champion will be crowned in 2025 – and with an expanded entry list cemented the battle for supremacy could be wide open.

Having come oh-so close to championship glory just a few months ago, Simon Cole is back and aiming to go one better this time around.

Cole will be once again joined on the grid by his son, Archie Handy. The talented teenager made his series debut last year and made a lasting impression as he powered his way to countless podium finishes.

Joining the Cole Trucksport duo in the fight for Division 2 honours will be four brand-new drivers to the championship.

Jake Evans – a relation of former competitor Craig Evans – will race under the Evans Transport Engineering banner while Graham Poole will join the aforementioned Powell and Yates at 333 Motorsport.

Completing the entry list will be Weaver Motorsport’s Bradley Harvey and S O Racing Team’s Sami Ojanen, who hails from Finland.

Season 2025: The countdown is on…

With less than 100 days to go until the Easter curtain-raiser at Brands Hatch, the countdown to the first race of the new season is now in full swing.
