The British Truck Racing Championship enters the business end of the 2025 season this weekend (September 13-14) as Snetterton stages the first leg of a crucial double-header.
After a month-long break, the UK’s biggest motor racing series speeds into Norfolk for the latest instalment of what has already proven to be a captivating campaign – one which sees very little separating the lead contenders in both Division 1 and Division 2.
With the battle for supremacy delicately poised, the gloves are expected to come off around the 2.97-mile circuit as those in title contention look to stake their claim to being crowned champion come Brands Hatch in November.
Every point is going to be crucial too because as soon as the chequered flag falls for the final time on Sunday, the championship is set to pack up and head to France to race at Le Mans the very next weekend.
Tight at the top in Division 1
Reigning nine-time champion Ryan Smith had to dig deep last time out at Donington Park but a race win and a handful of podiums allowed him to move back to the summit of the leaderboard; now the aim is to kick on and extend his advantage over the chasing pack.
That won’t be an easy task for the Daimler Freightliner driver though as hot on his heels is ten-time title winner Stuart Oliver and fellow former champion David Jenkins, who became the ninth different victor of the season a few weeks ago.
After 20 blockbuster races, less than ten points remarkably cover the trio of champions and with each of them arguably driving as well as ever this season, the stage is set for an unmissable showdown at Snetterton.
John Bowler, Michael Oliver and David Smith have all stood on the top step of the podium this year and they will be on the hunt for more silverware as they bid to hunt down the aforementioned top-three.
Elsewhere, both Martin Gibson and Tom O’Rourke have found themselves in the thick of the action whilst 333 Motorsport’s Steven Powell has started to show what he is capable of after enduring a difficult start to the campaign.
Other drivers to look out for in Division 1 include Pembrey race winner Adam Bint, Brands Hatch podium finisher Neil Yates, fan favourite Richard Collett and last year’s Division 2 champion John Powell, who is still getting to grips with his brand-new DAF.
Place your bets for Division 2 honours
Division 2 also has a captivating title battle brewing and like Division 1, this weekend’s quintet of races could have a major impact on the destiny of where the title eventually ends up.
Bradley Harvey’s debut season couldn’t be going any better as it stands. Two breakthrough wins at Thruxton moved him into the points lead and then he was able to maintain his position following a frenetic outing at Convoy in the Park.
The Weaver Motorsport driver continues to improve as each meeting passes and he’ll be keen to take another step forward this weekend, especially as both Jake Evans and Simon Cole are within striking distance of him.
Evans, another series debutant this year, was the early pace-setter but a catastrophic engine failure meant he missed Thruxton and lost ground. He did manage to bounce back in style at Donington Park however by clinching four wins from five races.
That’s put Evans right in the hunt again and trailing him by just a few points is last year’s runner-up Simon Cole. The IVECO driver has nine wins to his name this season and with experience on his side, he can never be discounted.
Meanwhile, Finnish star Sami Ojanen guided his Sisu to a maiden win on British soil last month and that will undoubtedly put a spring in his step. The popular European racer will certainly be one to watch.
Three other drivers that will be looking to add their names to the winners’ roll of honour is Callum Eason, Archie Handy and Graham Poole. The trio have shown pace and potential this season but it is the top step that they all have their sights set on.
