John Powell took centre stage at the British Automobile Racing Club’s annual Championship Awards Evening this past Saturday (February 1) as he celebrated his 2024 Division 2 title victory.
Taking his place alongside some of the leading lights in UK motorsport at the glittering black tie event, Powell was presented with his championship-winning trophy by the Chief Executive of Motorsport UK, Hugh Chambers.
“It’s a real honour to be here and celebrate what was an amazing season once again,” said Powell. “We had some great races last year but it was certainly not easy, it never is in the British Truck Racing Championship as it continues to get bigger and better each year.
“We couldn’t have done it without our fantastic sponsors and partners that’s for sure so a big thank you has to go to each and every one of them.
“The attention is very much on 2025 now though. We’re currently building a new truck and will have that ready to be unveiled ahead of the new season starting in April.”
Ten-time champion and Truck Sport UK Director Stuart Oliver was also in attendance, ironically winning an Alpine Driving Experience at Thruxton in the raffle which is run raise money for the BARC Marshals Fund.
