333 Motorsport have confirmed that Graham Poole has taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the final round of the British Truck Racing Championship season at Brands Hatch this weekend (November 1-2).
The 66-year-old made his debut in the UK’s biggest motor racing series this year and has gone on to show constant improvements at every event that he competed at; with the highlight coming at Snetterton where he claimed a maiden Division 2 podium.
A team statement read: “It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that our #333 driver Graham Poole, has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the British Truck Racing Championship.
“To compete in this championship was on Grahams bucket list at the grand old age of 66. Despite a tricky start to the season he put in an excellent performance at Donington and had a podium finish at Snetterton.
“Graham’s decision has come about due to the ever changing implementation of the rules and regulations and in his mind he felt he was not being given the chance to progress, even though every practice session and race was an improvement over the previous ones.
“Graham will hang up his race gear and attend as a sponsor for Bowler Racing team, which he has been for a number of years, and a spectator at the season finale at Brands Hatch this weekend.”
333 Motorsport will instead run a slimmed down driver line-up for the coming weekend, with both Steven Powell and Neil Yates flying the flag for the squad in Division 1.
