NAPA Racing UK has announced that British Touring Car Championship driver Sam Osborne will replace Paul Rivett at this weekend’s British Truck Racing Championship meeting at Pembrey Circuit on May 18-19.
Reigning Division 2 champion Rivett recently suffered a broken ankle which has therefore ruled him out from competing at the second meeting of the 2024 campaign in South Wales.
After enjoying a superlative start to the season last month at Brands Hatch – where he scooped an outright victory and a clean sweep of class wins – the MAN TGX driver is hoping to return to full fitness for the trip to Thruxton in early July.
Driving for NAPA Racing UK and Alliance Racing in the UK’s premier motorsport series, Osborne has been a feature of the BTCC since 2019 and has had a best result of third place, which he scored at Donington Park last year.
“I’m absolutely gutted to be missing the next round of the BTRC due to a broken ankle,” said Rivett. “If there was any way to be out there, I would be! However, it’s going to be great to see Sam in the truck that he has put so much time and effort into.
“Sam has been instrumental in the behind-the-scenes work and I know has been itching for a go in the driver’s seat. I’ll be there to help out where I can. Good luck Sam!”
The 2024 British Truck Racing Championship continues at Pembrey Circuit this weekend, with five races headlining Convoy Cymru.
