Archie Handy will become one of the youngest drivers to ever compete in the British Truck Racing Championship when he joins the grid at Pembrey next month.
Following in the footsteps of his father Simon, who is already well-established in the UK’s heavyweight motorsport series, Handy will join the Division 2 ranks in South Wales – driving a Volvo previously raced by Paddy Mac.
Handy is no stranger to the BTRC having played a pivotal role in the running of the successful Cole Trucksport operation; most recently at Brands Hatch where he was a mechanic on his father’s IVECO.
Boasting a racing pedigree that has seen him enjoy varied success across both the Junior Saloon Car Championship and BRSCC Ford Fiesta Junior Championship, the teenager is eager to make his mark as he takes the next step in his fledging racing career.
“I’ve always been around trucks from a young age working with my dad and it feels only right to follow in his footsteps into truck racing,” said Handy. “It’s a great family feeling we’ve got and I can’t wait to get on track.
“Racing in Fiestas was amazing and after some time away I’m really looking forward to being able to get back in a race seat, starting at Pembrey.”
The 2024 British Truck Racing Championship season continues at Pembrey on the 18-19 May.
