As the British Truck Racing Championship heads towards its season finale at Brands Hatch, we’re taking a look back on the action that has unfolded at each round – all of which has contributed towards setting up what is a tantalising title showdown on November 1-2.
After a blockbuster season-opener at Brands Hatch, the super-sized series next headed to Pembrey Circuit in mid-May to headline Convoy Cymru.
On a weekend that saw a bumper crowd enjoy a host of attractions including live music, monster truck rides and show trucks, there was n denying that the main event in South Wales was five colossal contests from the UK’s biggest motor racing series.
In Division 1, championship leader Ryan Smith would endure contrasting fortunes aboard his Daimler Freightliner. The defending nine-time champion reigned supreme on the Saturday to claim pole position and two wins before mechanical issues then hampered him a day later on Sunday.
As Smith struggled, former Division 2 title winner Adam Bint scored a sublime maiden win in the premier class before Stuart Oliver and Michael Oliver claimed a win apiece. Michael’s triumph would be all the more special as Team Oliver Racing clinched a historic 1-2-3 finish.
Elsewhere, Division 2 would see Simon Cole and Jake Evans renew their battle from Brands Hatch with the pair once again being the toast of the competition. Cole would snare three wins in his Iveco whilst Evans charged to a dominant double.
Leaving Pembrey, Stuart Oliver moved to the standings summit with a 12-point lead over Ryan Smith. Evans meanwhile maintained his advantage out front in Divison 2, although the chasing pack were hot on his heels.
