Jake Evans looking to make his mark in rookie Division 2 season

Jake Evans is putting a focus on consistency this year and even the prospect of silverware as he prepares to tackle the 2025 British Truck Racing Championship.
Evans is one of several new drivers to be joining the UK’s biggest motor racing series and will be running under the J Evans Trucksport banner in Division 2.
He said: “As a novice it will be great to be on track with some other new faces, as well as familiar names who I’m sure will set the bar high in Division 2.
“As we saw last year, consistency in this championship really is everything so building up to a reliable, race finishing standard is goal number one. From there we will look to push on and see if we can’t bag a few podiums in our maiden season too!
“A race win at some point in the year would be the ultimate goal of course! It would be amazing to bag that to pay back all the team and sponsors for their hard work in getting us out there.”
The Evans name is no stranger to the championship either with Craig Evans having finished inside the top-three in Division 2 back in 2023. The squads absence from the grid in 2024 was geared around making a notable return this year.
“We’d been racing in the series as a team for a few years up to 2023 then took a break in 2024,” he explained. “I was looking around in early 2024 at options to get into racing myself and wasn’t all that interested in cars given our history in the trucks.
“Instead I decided that we would work to get the budget in place for a truck racing season. Eventually we managed to get the deal together with our fantastic group of sponsors continuing to back us and a few new names joining us too.
“That got the wheels turning for truck preparation after she had stood for a year or more. Since then we’ve conducted a comprehensive strip down, clean and refurb of all required parts so that we’re ready to go racing.”
Commenting on the efforts behind the scenes, Evans continued: “There has been a fantastic effort from my Dad and the whole team who are once again dedicating their time to get us out on track.
“The truck is in the workshop having the pre-season treatment at the moment. We’re implementing some of the minor changes and improvements that we had on the cards in late 2023 so hopefully that’ll provide a better and more stable platform that we had established during our last tenure on circuit.
“I’m looking forward to a few upcoming testing opportunities to help me get up to speed and then we’ll be ready to go racing at Brands Hatch in April!”
